"Health and Wellness"

Arthur Lockhart Resource Institute welcomes people from all walks of life who are confronted with the choice between paying the rent, putting food on the table, paying for medication, or getting enough to eat. We focus on addressing health care concerns proactively, mainly concerns around Diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, and COVID-19, by improving the health literacy levels, testing, and referrals of the residents of the Austin/West Garfield Park community. It is an essential resource for:

  • Seniors living on a fixed income;

  • Homeless people;

  • Struggling Veterans;

  • People who have lost their jobs seeking employment;

  • Workers whose jobs don’t pay enough to cover basic needs;

Our Health and Wellness Program addresses food and nutrition and community health.

We remain committed to our work of providing food hope for all of our neighbors in need, no matter what they look like, where they come from, what language they speak, what they believe, or who they love. We continue to advocate for policies that strengthen nutrition programs, protect our most vulnerable neighbors and address the root causes of hunger and health disparities.
