ABOUT ARTHUR LOCKHART RESOURCE INSTITUTE

OUR STORY

For more than 30 years, the Arthur Lockhart Resource Institute (ALRI) has served the Austin and West Garfield communities as a not for profit human and social service organization dedicated to enriching, empowering, and encouraging positive growth among residents. From its earliest days, ALRI has focused on improving the economic, educational, psychological, social, and health experiences of families across Chicago’s West Side.

Founded by the late Dr. Arthur Lockhart, former Pastor of Healing Temple Church of God in Christ, ALRI began as a faith rooted initiative committed to meeting the needs of neighbors facing hardship. Over the decades, ALRI expanded its reach through partnerships with civic organizations, churches, and government agencies, strengthening its ability to support individuals and families throughout the Austin and West Garfield communities.

ALRI continues to grow its programs and services, evolving into a comprehensive resource hub that addresses the most pressing challenges facing the community. In addition to long standing programs for youth mentoring, senior support, and veteran services, ALRI plays a critical role in addressing housing instability and food insecurity — two of the most urgent needs facing West Side residents.

ALRI strengthens community stability through housing assistance, food insecurity relief, and expanded COVID 19 support, including PPE distribution, home bound food delivery, wellness checks, and vaccination coordination for seniors and veterans.

Rooted in service and driven by community partnership, ALRI remains committed to building resources today for tomorrow — ensuring every resident has access to the support, stability, and opportunity they need to thrive.

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES THAT INSPIRE GROWTH

OUR MISSION

To empower women veterans by providing access to education, entrepreneurship, wellness resources, mentorship, and community partnerships that foster long-term success and independence.

OUR VISION

To build a future where every woman veteran has the opportunity, confidence, and support to lead, innovate, and create lasting impact within her community.

HELPING WOMEN VETERANS RISE

At ALRI, we believe empowerment extends beyond business. That's why we're proud to launch the RISE Wellness Center and RISE Community Kitchen—two transformative initiatives dedicated to supporting holistic well-being, workforce development, and stronger communities.

Together with our Sister to Sister Program and the annual Women Veteran Business & Market Expo, these initiatives reflect our commitment to creating sustainable opportunities that help women veterans succeed in every stage of life.
